Gender
Gender can be what you were assigned at birth or what you identify with. These may not be the same and for some people may be neither or both at different times. Some people are comfortable with their birth gender or the gender they identify with (if different from birth), whereas others may feel unease or even distress that their biological gender is not what they identify with. This is known as gender dysphoria and some research suggests it is more common in autistic individuals. Without support to navigate these feelings, people can become anxious or depressed.
