Managing at University

Starting university can be challenging for autistic individuals. Not only are there the practical issues of leaving home and moving away from everything you know, there are also changes to academic study with university relying on much more independent study.

One thing that can help greatly is doing some homework. Visit the university a few times before you start, ask if you can visit accommodation or lecture theatres whilst there, to lower anxiety. If living away from home, work on independent living skills before you leave. Find out what extra support is available and get things in place before you start.

We also have a range of resources available below, to try and help with different areas of university life.
